Telling signs apart by shape
Shape and colour tell you a lot before you have even read the symbol.
| Red border, round | A ban. You may not do something, such as enter or drive faster than the number. |
|---|---|
| Blue, round | An order. You must do something, such as follow a direction or use a path. |
| Triangle with a red border | A warning of danger ahead. |
| Blue, rectangular | Information, for example about a road, a zone or parking. |
A sign with a diagonal line through it usually means a rule ends. A plate under a sign can limit the rule, for example to certain times or vehicles.
